PHYSICAL THERAPY
Dennis Gattoni PT and Suzanne Puhalovic-Gattoni PT graduated from New York University, School of Health, Nursing and Arts Professions in 1994 and have 28 years of experience treating patients with a wide variety of acute, chronic and post surgical injuries.
Dennis and Suzanne have developed a treatment approach that combines traditional manual techniques, such as strain counter strain, myofascial release, muscle energy technique, soft tissue massage with functional strengthening exercises.
Functional strengthening exercises are exercises that are performed in a standing position and use a patient's body weight as resistance. They are designed to target multiple joints and muscle groups at the same time which translates to a better carry over to our patients daily activities or athletic endevours.
Your initial evaluation at I.A.P.T. will consist of a thorough history, movement or gait analysis, flexibility, strength and functional testing, followed by manual hands on treatment, flexibility, range of motion and strengthening exercise, modalities (ice, heat, electric stimulation) and home exercise instruction.
We take the time to educate our patients about their condition and work with them to develop a personalized treatment plan which is tailored to their specific needs.
Your follow up appointment at I.A.P.T. will begin with a warm up on a stationary bike/treadmill or an active exercise to warm up the affected area. Following the warm up you will begin stretching and range of motion exercises followed by functional strengthening exercises. The second part of your treatment will consist of a combination of manual therapy techniques e.g. therapeutic massage, manual stretching, passive range of motion, manual traction, joint mobilization, strain counter strain, muscle energy and myofascial release techniques as well as modalities such as ice, heat, ultrasound and electric simulation.
We offer a range of therapeutic modalities and exercise equipment including ultrasound, electric stimulation, ice, heat, treadmill, stationary bike, baps board, balance/ proprioceptive equipment, Body Blades, medicine and physio balls and a leg press.
